Resell it
Listing your timeshare for resale is a good option, especially if you own a more popular property with a decent resale value. Reselling your timeshare gives you the opportunity to exit it and make a little cash back. It is important to keep in mind, however, that timeshares rarely maintain their value on the secondary market and sometimes the resale process can take months or even years.
Pros:
- Relatively easy to do (simply a listing)
- Fairly inexpensive (with us it is just $995 for a two year ad)
- And we include your closing cost in that, when it sells!
- Has the potential to make a little bit of cash back from the resale.
- Once you have a buyer and the transfer of ownership is complete, you have exited your timeshare and are no longer obligated to pay the maintenance fees.
Cons:
- You retain ownership of the timeshare UNTIL IT SELLS (meaning you are still obligated to pay the maintenance fees, while you are waiting for a buyer).
- Reselling a timeshare could take months or even years or not happen at all.
- Resales are never guaranteed.
- You rarely resell a timeshare for what you paid for it.
