How Julio & Berenice Escaped a Points-Based Timeshare and Protected Their Retirement

To the Team at Timeshare Recyclers,

We are writing this letter to share our experience, not only to express our gratitude, but also in the hope that others might avoid the pain, confusion, and financial harm that we went through before finding your company.

What happened to us began like it does for so many others—with a presentation that felt friendly, reassuring, and professional on the surface, but that ultimately turned out to be built on misrepresentation.

About a year ago, we attended a sales presentation with a major, well-known points-based timeshare developer. We were told that this was an opportunity to improve our lifestyle, create flexibility for travel, and even generate income through rentals. We were assured repeatedly that this purchase would not become a financial burden. In fact, the sales representative made it sound as though the points themselves would solve our financial concerns.

Almost immediately after signing, we realized we had made a mistake.

We tried to cancel right away. We knew in our hearts that something was not right, and we did not feel comfortable moving forward. When we contacted the sales representative, we were told there was nothing to worry about. We were instructed to “wait 30 days” before enrolling our points into the rental program that had been recommended to us. We were told—very clearly—that once those 30 days passed, we would be able to place our points into the rental program and simply “cash them out.” According to the sales rep, the income from renting our points would cover our maintenance fees, our down payment, and effectively make the timeshare pay for itself.

We trusted what we were told.

What we did not understand at the time—and what was never explained honestly—was that the rental program worked nothing like how it was described. After waiting the required 30 days, we contacted the rental referral company we had been directed to. That is when the truth finally came out.

There was no simple “cashing out” of points.

Instead, we were told that in order to earn anything at all, we would first have to make a reservation using our points, then list that reservation for rent, hope that someone would actually rent it, and only after that process was completed would we receive any income—and even then, it would be split 50/50 with the rental company. There were no guarantees. No protection. No certainty. And certainly no assurance that the income would cover our costs.

It was a completely different reality from what had been sold to us.

When we contacted the original sales representative to confront him about this, his response was devastating. He told us that we were now outside the rescission period and that there was nothing we could do. He stated, bluntly, that the contract was binding and that we should have read the paperwork more carefully.

We then called the main customer service line for the timeshare company, hoping someone there would help. Instead, we were told the same thing—twice. We were informed that we were outside the rescission period, that everything was “in writing,” and that there were no options available to us.

What made this especially painful was that during the sales process, we had been actively discouraged from paying close attention to the documents. We were told not to worry about the signing, that the Zoom meeting with the loan officer was just a formality, and that the written contract did not reflect the “real” agreement we were making. We were trusting, and we were misled.

As if that were not enough, we later discovered something even more alarming. Without our clear understanding or informed consent, a major credit card had been opened in our names. We found out only when a new credit card arrived in the mail after we returned home. This was how the down payment had been financed—despite the sales representative telling us that the down payment would be covered by “cashing out” our new points.

In other words, the points were never covering anything. We were being charged monthly maintenance fees we could not afford, a down payment we never knowingly approved, and a long-term financial obligation that could have followed us for decades.

We left those conversations feeling ashamed, confused, and trapped.

At that point, desperate for help, we contacted another company that claimed to specialize in timeshare exits. They told us they were listed with the Better Business Bureau and that they could help us. Trusting them, we paid their fee—only to later discover that they were not actually registered with the BBB and that many of their claims were false. Once again, we had been lied to.

By the time we found Timeshare Recyclers, we felt defeated. We honestly believed there was no way out.

From our very first conversation with your team, the difference was clear. We were not pressured. We were not promised miracles. Instead, we were educated. You explained our options, our risks, and our rights. You helped us understand how to cancel the contract with the fraudulent exit company. You guided us step by step through the dispute process—across multiple states—and helped us document everything properly.

Most importantly, you told us the truth.

Over time, you successfully helped us exit the timeshare contract. You also assisted us in disputing the unauthorized credit card and ultimately helped us win that dispute so that we were not required to repay the down payment. The relief we felt is difficult to put into words.

When we look back now, we realize that if we had stayed trapped in that contract, it would have cost us easily $120,000 or more over time—and that does not even include interest, financing costs, or rising maintenance fees. It would have delayed our retirement by at least five years, forcing us to work longer just to pay for something that brought us stress instead of joy.

Thanks to Timeshare Recyclers, we are in a far better financial position. More importantly, we have peace of mind. You did not just help us cancel a contract—you helped us reclaim our future.

We cannot thank you enough for your professionalism, persistence, and integrity. If anyone reading this feels stuck, ashamed, or afraid because of a timeshare decision, please know this: there are honest people who will stand with you and fight for you. We are living proof of that.

With sincere gratitude,

Julio & Veronese
